As a belated blogiversary gift, my incredibly sweet cousin in the UK sent over a couple of the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks. I heart her so, so much.
The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks are liquid lipsticks that boast a matte finish that feels light on the lips. They are akin to the Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Creams, with their velvety texture and striking pigmentation.
04 Peach Club is a warm terracotta peach and 02 Frambourjoise is a bright raspberry. Both are absolutely gorgeous, and the shade range, in general, is chock-full of stunning options. The doe foot applicator allows enough control for quick and easy swipe-on-and-go application. I sometimes experience a bit of streakiness initially, but it's nothing a thin second coat can't fix.
The lasting power on these babies is phenomenal. With drinking and light snacking, they hardly budge at all, and although the color does fade a bit after a meal, the stain left behind ensures your lips never appear bare.
Compared to the Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Creams (I reviewed Sancerre here), the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets don't apply quite as perfectly, and my lips start to feel quite parched after several hours of wearing them (they're comfortable for the first 3 or so hours). However, these don't bleed at all, whereas I sometimes experience a tiny bit of bleeding around the edges with Sancerre. Overall lasting power of both formulas is similar, i.e. 6+ hours or until you eat a meal.
Peach Club (top) and Frambourjoise
I really love these. Bold, matte lips are so chic, and the Rouge Edition Velvets make it so easy without having to sacrifice too much on comfort. Hot Pepper and Ping Pong look particularly drool-worthy as well.
For those in the US, you can find these on asos for $17, although it appears most shades are currently out of stock.
